Having "Me" Time

The past two days the hot topic on everyone's lips has been "Steve Jobs has died."  It's strange that I should find out about this on my iPhone, a few minutes after waking up.  When talking to others the first reaction is a little 'gasp.'  Everyone knows him. Even those who are not Apple fans.  He's dead and millions worldwide mourn his death.  Millions who have not seen nor spoken to him in person, yet we all hold a part of him in our lives.  We use his inventions to contact those dearest to us and as research even suggests, what we feel for our smart phones may not be merely addiction, but in fact 'love.' Yes, we have grown to 'love' our iPhones, iPads, iPods, Macs and many things Apple related. Since it's the long weekend in Bangkok, I thought I'd share with you a funny story (or not) to liven things up.  This is a true story yet it is one that makes me smile everything I think about it. It happened just the other evening.  Around my house there are lots of birds, and every evening they fly around searching for food to feed their young ones.  They'd fly around chirping and chirping to no end.  It's wonderful to be surrounded by nature.   As I came home one night and walked pass a room, I thought to myself, "oh the birds are really having a round today!  They are chirping really loudly." I didn't think much about it, and went into my own room minding my own business.  I went down to dinner and then came upstairs. Again I hear the sound of chirping birds, but it's now dark outside and I start to wonder why the birds haven't yet returned to their nests.     I walk around the room and realize that ...

I have a love for gadgets.  It's something that I think many of us share is this day and age when technology is just at your fingertips.  Everything can be ordered and viewed online.  Since the iPad's 2 launch exactly a week ago I have been drooling over it.   I'm tempted, very tempted.  I keep watching the adverts on youtube.  But now that the iPad 1 is almost a hundred dollars cheaper, which would make the more practical buy?  Do I really need one considering the lifestyle I have now? This past week, in order not to have an "impulse buy" I've been thinking about it.  (Actually, I've been thinking about it since the launch of iPad, but could not reason getting one considering it seems like a bigger version of my iPhone.)  Now with iPad 2, my desire for one gets stronger.  It's just a matter of time.   As technology evolves, so does our future.  In the future I envision many households having at least one iPa...

When traveling, everyone always tries to buy goods that are cheaper than what they can get back home.  Being in Singapore, where a lot of people come to buy electronics I had to go check out the prices.  My mission was to find out if electronic products (especially the iPad) are cheaper here or in Bangkok. Singapore has a mall that specializes in electronics called Funan . It's easily accessible by MRT (undergound), just get off at City Hall and exit on North Ridge Road.  Funan is just down the street.  It's like Fortune and Panthip Plaza in Bangkok, but its more quiet and more orderly. There are a zillion shops selling laptops and computers.  I walk around and just enjoy browsing through all the gadgets and gizmos.  I always had a particular fondness for electronics and the techonology always fascinates me.  Its actually more fun than looking for clothes...  I check out the price of the ILuv clock radio for iPod and iPhone dual...
