A Surprise to Remember

I dedicate tonight's post to my dear colleagues with whom I spend more time than I am at home.  Today I have to admit I was truly surprised and would like to say a big "Thank You" everyone for having planned, ordered, putting candles on the frozen ice cream, being there,  and singing happy birthday so loud I have to admit I was literally lost for words.  I really appreciate it.  Thank you everyone.  You make my day. I really was not expecting this for it was a Monday and everyone was busy, very busy, there are always a zillion things to do.  I imagined the whole cake thing would occur at a later more relaxed date.  Today's event was indeed a surprise that made my heart skip a beat.    I had presumed I was going up to the office to wish farewell to another colleague.  I am that gullible.  I believed it. You can imagine how surprised I was to  find myself walking into a room full of peopl...

Three Hundred Nights

Tonight is the night I break the lucky 300th post. I therefore want to give a special note of appreciation and thanks to my dear readers. For each and everyone of you have and continue to inspire me. Not anytime soon.) I have to admit that writing out into the abyss of the internet day-in day-out can be somewhat of a daunting task. There is so much out there. The internet is a vast universe of its own and we occupy but tiny corner of it. A nano sized speck invisible to the human eye. For three hundred nights I have sat in front of my computer screen...

"Thank you" :)

Some events touch your heart so much that you become lost for words. When people tell you how much all you've done for them means and how much it matters, it feels wonderful. In this day and age, when people care so much about themselves, what they have, what they don't have, what other people have, what the neighbours have, what others will say, what others will think...the focus becomes so much on "me", "I" and "myself." Sometimes we focus on "me" so much, we end up having an entire conversation about ourselves. It makes us forget to take care of the little things that really matter. Little things like offering people a bit of water when they are thirsty, giving them an umbrella to hide from the sorching sun, or just making sure they aren't feeling left out. Noticing how people are feeling or reacting. Are they ill? are they in need of help? Little things like saying "Thank you" and showing appreciation for the th...
